I followed the Developer path through the New Media Certificate, starting with Rich Media Production & New Media Brown Bag. I finished the certificate with the New Media Capstone class, where I worked for the team on the AthensGAWeather iOS project.
During that time, I worked mostly with iOS development including apps that took advantage of Augmented reality, audio/visual presentation, database integration & more. I also assisted with the creation of graphical assets, marketing resources and demos for my capstone project.
This app searched a database of FCC 477 records and provided results on a map containing the information of local Internet Service Providers and their speeds/technologies
This app overlayed coordinates onto an augmented reality stage, so that the relative positions and identities of distant objects can be presented to the user
This app presented a basic music player interface that included player controls, album art & information, and volume control to the user, along with playing the selected audio track.
AthensGaWeather is a hyper-localized weather app developed for Georgians by Georgians. Forecasts are generated by students in the UGA’s geography department, and are presented in a beautiful, easy-to-use app with daily high and low temperature reports, 5-day forecasts, video forecasts & a live newsfeed from the student team.
I worked with a team of 4 other New Media students and acted as Developer for both the Swift 5-based iOS app as well as the PHP/MYSQL backend. We developed alpha, beta, 1.0, and 1.1 versions of the project and then successfully published the result in the iOS app store. In the process of working towards the app store submission, the team produced a suite of custom vector icons, logos and backgrounds. We also created social deliverables for promoting the app in print ads and social media platforms.
